Barclays bolsters West African team with senior hire

BARCLAYS BOLSTERS WEST AFRICAN TEAM WITH SENIOR HIRE

Barclays today announces the appointment of Francis Esem Wood as Managing Director in Wealth and Investment Management. Based in London, Francis will focus on the West African market and will report to Henry Fischel-Bock, Managing Director and Head of Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) and Offshore Africa.

Prior to joining Barclays, Francis was a Managing Director at JHX Management Limited where he was responsible for establishing key relationships to drive business in Africa. Previous to that he was CEO in the investment bank of First City Monument Bank in Lagos, and has had several high profile roles at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.

Henry Fischel-Bock commented:

A dual Ghanaian and UK national, Francis has extensive networks and experience in West Africa which will significantly complement our existing team and further bolster our growth prospects in this region.”
