The Barclaycard Payment Security Team has been named the winner of the Information Security Team of the Year category at the SC Magazine Europe Awards 2011. The award acknowledges the work undertaken by the team, which sits within Barclaycard’s Global Payment Acceptance division, to help merchants and retailers comply with security standards such as PCI DSS, as well as educating businesses on the reduction of card fraud.
The win comes just a week after Neira Jones, Head of Payment Security at Barclaycard, was inducted to the Infosecurity Europe 2011 Hall of Fame for her commitment to the promotion of information security practices. A well-known payment security expert, Neira was recognised for her significant contribution to securing the payment value chain for businesses and customers in the financial services sector, whilst retaining a pragmatic risk-based approach.
Both of these accolades highlight Barclaycard’s ongoing commitment to developing Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance amongst merchants. With over 87,000 merchant customers in the UK, Barclaycard has made significant investments in the research and development of innovations to prevent payment systems from being compromised. Recent innovations ensure understanding and compliance amongst merchants, and customer friendly tools such as Fraud Reporter which helps retailers with reporting on card transactions.

The awards were hosted at the Hilton on Park Lane, London by SC Magazine, the largest dedicated IT security publication which has been running for over 15 years.
